Who are We ?

Regional Development Australia (Gippsland) is one of a nation-wide network of 55 RDA Committees, representing all of Australia - and includes remote, rural, regional and metropolitan regions. RDA has a broad set of objectives aimed at enhancing the economic, social and sustainable development of Australia.

Our Committee

Chair – Richard Elkington

Richard Elkington worked for over 40 years in the Latrobe Valley power generation industry and held a number of senior positions at General Manager level. He is currently providing management and strategic planning consultancy services to a range of Gippsland businesses. He is a Director of East Gippsland Water, Gippsland Ports and was previously Chair of Gippsland Water. He is also a member of the Clean Coal Victoria Advisory Committee and a long-term member of the Executive Council of the Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In addition, Richard is engaged in a range of community activities including Community Radio.

Tim Weight – Deputy Chair

tim-weight photoTim Weight grew up in Melbourne and studied Agricultural Science at Melbourne University. Over the years Tim’s career has shifted from living and working on the land to being instrumental in its development. Tim was appointed to the Board of Riviera Properties Limited and was the Group Managing Director from 1998 – 2013. Tim has been involved in agricultural systems and economics, regional economic development and property development. Tim has extensive experience in the management of property development and property investment ventures in East Gippsland and Melbourne.
